The Dove

The dove is used as the symbol for the Holy Spirit as well as the symbol of Peace and Renewal in the Bible. The gold circle is a reference to Byzantine art where gold was used to portray Heaven and holiness.

The format of this painting is a square which is the shape that represents the world.

 “As soon as Jesus was baptised  he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.”

Matt 3:16

“..Noah released the dove again, and this time towards evening, the bird returned to him with an olive leaf in her beak….a week later he released the dove again, and this time she did not come back” Gen 8:11&12
